| Why can't I send email through mail.profitability.net? |
|
Profitability.net's
email server is configured to use a technology called, " POP before
SMTP." POP before SMTP is a technology employed to prevent
spammers from abusing our mail server, while still allowing our
customers to send email. All it requires is that you successfully
check your email before it will allow you to send email. So, in
order to send email using mail.profitability.net, simply be sure that
your email program is configured to check your messages first, before
it tries to send your outgoing messages. It has also come to our
attention that many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are now filtering
outgoing mail traffic in an attempt to help slow the spread of certain
email-bourne worms and viruses. If your provider has begun doing
this, you will be unable to send email directly through
mail.profitability.net. Your incoming mail will be unaffected,
but you will need to contact your ISP for additional information on
what outgoing mail server you should be using and how to configure your
email software for sending mail. We have compiled a brief list of
outgoing mail server settings for some of the more common ISP's
for your convenience here. If
you are sending mail from a computer that connects to the Internet
through a variety of providers, for instance if you use your laptops in
hotels often, you may find it more convenient to configure your email
software to use mail.profitability.net as your SMTP server on port
587. Port 587 has been designated as the new email submission
port and is coming into wide use across the internet. At this
time it appears that most ISP's are permitting traffic on port 587 to
leave their networks, so using port 587 while travelling should remove
the need to change your email settings each time you connect through a
different provider.
