Is any hardware or software required to use Postini?
Postini sits between the Internet and your email gateway which can be an inhouse mail server or outsourced to Profitability.net. Email threats are preemptively stopped before messages reach your inbox. Since there is no installation or distribution of software or appliances, there are no worries about conducting frequent updates or version control issues.
How easy is it to start using Postini?
Postini can be activated in just a few minutes with a simple modification of the customer’s DNS or MX record and activation by Profitability.net. Once activated, all inbound messages to the customer flow through Postini data centers in North America or Europe where threats are effectively blocked.
Do end users have access to their own quarantine?
End users can access the online quarantine 24×7 via their existing email password or a provided password.
Can users maintain a white / black list of approved and blocked senders?
Email administrators and users can maintain their own approved and blocked sender lists, all within parameters set by the email administrator.

What is email spooling?
Spooling is the term used to capture email and store it until you reach quota or release messages from your storage area. Spooling is an optional add-on service that many clients use to prevent email from bouncing during mail system maintenance or loss of LAN connectivity to the office. Spooling can be purchased in blocks of 100MB of storage for $25 per month each. The spooling manager enables users to automatically release messages when a server is back online and define how long a system should be unavailable before spooling begins.
We don’t want to filter all of the email, can Postini deliver unfiltered messages for specific mailboxes?
Yes. Any mailbox or alias that does not exist in Postini will not be filtered and will be automatically delivered to your local mail server.
